Willard Kelley Obituary (1923 - 2014)

Willard Kelley December 7, 1923 ~ December 5, 2014 Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Willard Kelley, was promoted to glory peacefully on December 5, 2014. He was born in Brookhaven, MS on December 7, 1923 to Willie and Octavia Kelley. He served in the Army Air Corp in the 458th Aviation Squadron from 1942-1946 and received the WWII Victory Medal. Willard was stationed at Hill Air Force Base in the Army Air Corp in 1946. He was employed at Hill Air Force Base as an aircraft mechanic retiring after 35 years of service. He married Corine Ponell on February 21, 1951 in Reno, Nevada. They enjoyed over 63 years of marriage together. Willard was part owner and Commander of the American Legion Post 66 for over 40 years. He is survived by his wife Corine Kelley and his children, James (Donna) Kelly, Peggy (Charlie) Chukwudolue, Kathleen McBride, Anete (Leon) Foster, Diane Kelley and his brother, Jesse Kelley and his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, five siblings and his sons, John Crandall and Gregory Kelley. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2014. A viewing will be held prior to services from 12 to 1 p.m. at the church. Interment will be at the Evergreen Memorial Park.
