William Earl Ashby

WILLIAM (BILL) EARL ASHBY JR.

CLEARFIELDa"William (Bill) Earl Ashby Jr., left his earthly family to join his eternal family June 15, 2002 at the age of 84, after a long-term illness.

He was born July 8, 1917 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to William Earl Ashby Sr. and Norien Jarvis. He married Doris Stewart on November 12, 1938 in Brigham City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

He has lived in Salt Lake City; Burley, Idaho; Morgan; South Ogden; and Clearfield. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

He has been active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many positions. He retired from Hill Air Force Base.

He has enjoyed ballroom dancing and belonged to many square dance clubs for over 38 years. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, and being with his family.

Surviving are his wife, Doris, of Clearfield, and children: Earl Ashby, Ogden; Claude (Linda) Ashby, Roy; Sandie Thompson, Farr West; and Susan (Mike) Henrie, Clinton. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and brothers and sisters: Norien Olson, Riverside, CA; Grant (Iris) Ashby, St. George; Dorothy (Kenneth) Pugh, Salt Lake City; Dean (Birthe) Ashby, Oklahoma City, OK; Lenett (Charlie) Cash, Magna; Wayne (Janice) Ashby, West Jordan; and sister-in-law, Klea Ashby, Salt Lake City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers.
