William "Willie" Joseph Leskow

CLINTON - William "Willie" Joseph Leskow passed away February 6, 2012 from complications of pneumonia at Heritage Park Care Center in Roy, Utah.
He was born March 22, 1949 in Logan, Utah to Ida Rosa Kopetzky and William Fredrick Leskow.

Willie was born with Downs Syndrome and was such a special son, brother, and uncle and was loved by all those who knew him. He attended Cache County Special Needs School, and his mother helped him learn to read and write on a fourth grade level. Because of his educational achievements, he has been an inspiration to others with Downs Syndrome. At the time of his passing, he was the oldest living male in Utah with Downs Syndrome.

He attended Logan High School football games with his dad and enjoyed Weber State and Utah State football games and was an avid Weber State Wildcat fan! He participated in scouting and Special Needs Mutual. He was employed at Deseret Industries in Logan for 25 years.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in callings as usher and home teacher in his Clinton Ward. His scriptures were his best friend. He enjoyed listening to spiritual music and spent hours reading and transcribing from lesson manuals and was always prepared for the Sunday lessons.

He was very friendly and never met a person he didn't like. He reached out to others and had a great sense of humor. He loved to tease! He was also a Star Wars fan and loved watching the Star Wars movies and Little House on the Prairie. He enjoyed shooting hoops with his nephews and nieces. Bingo and bowling were two of his favorite activities.

He is survived by two sisters, Judith Marion (Ralph) Kraus and Dora L. Petersen, one brother-in-law, Dr. Charles James(Diane) Graham, and many nieces and nephews, great, and great-great nieces and nephews.
The families of Jim and Liz Graham and Dora and Raynold Petersen were privileged to have Willie in their homes after the death of his parents.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Elizabeth Ida Graham, and a brother-in-law, Raynold J. Petersen.

The family would like to thank the caring staff at Country Niche Adult Day Care, the Heritage Park Care Center, and Inspiration Hospice.
