William Howard Riemer

PERRY/BRIGHAM CITY - Husband, father, and Big Papa was reunited with the love of his life, our mom, on Wednesday, July 15, 2009.

Dad was born in Newark, New Jersey on January 21, 1921, son of David Harry and Malvinia Kretzman Riemer.

He and mom, Norma Louise Gunardson were married on May 30, 1948 and spent 44 wonderful years together. He and mom traveled the world before Mom died on January 1, 1992.

Dad's most precious gifts were his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with family. He enjoyed playing golf especially with his sons.

Dad spent his work life in government contracts senior executive management at Thiokol Chemical. He was most proud of his role in the signing of Minute Man, Space Shuttle and the original automotive Air Bags contracts and for the help he was able to provide others with their careers. When the opportunity arose to transfer from Thiokol, New Jersey, to Utah, the family moved to Utah in 1964. Finally retiring in 1984 as Vice President of Finance and Administration for Thiokol Corporation (ATK Space Systems)

He published several books on government contracts through Prentice Hall Publishing.

Member of Amity Lodge #23, F & AM, and was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason on April 8, 1943.

Served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II as a commissioned officer, Lieutenant JG, in the Atlantic Campaign.

He is survived by his five children, Kim Riemer, Downey, California; Pam (Stephen) Hendricks, Farmington; David H. (Lisa) Riemer, Bothwell; Cindy (David) Ormond, Willard, Mark Riemer, Brigham City.

He was loved by his grandchildren and great grandchildren, who called him Big Papa, his grandchildren are: Christopher (Stephanie) Hendricks, Joshua( Ashlie) Hendricks, Clinton (Deni) Ormond, Bradie Ormond, Jeremy Ormond, Lynette (Byron) Chaudoin, Kellee Ormond, Kate (Martin) Pulido, Niccole (Jermey) Steele, Spencer (Tina) Riemer, Jessica Riemer along with 17 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary Chapel, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City, UT.

Friends and family may call on Friday, July 17, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 to 10:40 a.m. at the Mortuary.

Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
