William Charles Schoppe

North Ogden - William Charles Schoppe, age 97, entered into eternal rest with the Lord on September 5, 2010, at home surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born August 6, 1913 in Starke County, Indiana, son of Wilhelm and Louise Gerth Schoppe. Bill retired from the Bureau of Reclamation, serving in Utah and Washington, D. C. with over 30 years, as a Bureau Operations Officer. He was a graduate of Orem High School and attended Brigham Young University. Bill was a member of Valley View Baptist Church in North Ogden. Besides his family, Bill's lifelong interests were his church, fishing, hunting, sailing and gardening.

He was first married to Blanche Roach, with whom he had three sons: Charles John, David Lee, and William Alan. He later married Eve Jackson, with whom he had one son, Edward Arthur. Bill is survived by his wife of 34 years, Rosemary McFarland Gould of North Ogden. Also surviving are his sons Charles of California and David of Idaho from his first marriage, a brother Theodore of California, and seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Grandchildren are: Jeffrey, Kathleen, Gregory, Steven, Michelle, Andrew, Christopher. Rosemary's children are: Richard Eugene Gould, Susan Gould Smith, and Joseph Gould; grandchildren are: Kristopher, Heather, Jocelyn, Sara, Jaymie, Maya, Lucas, Abby; 24 A 1/2 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, three sisters, two brothers and two sons, William Allen and Edward Arthur.

The family wishes to express their profound appreciation to the Intermountain Homecare Hospice Organization. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Valley View Baptist Church, 2712 N. 400 E. North Ogden, UT, 84412 or to Intermountain Homecare, 3776 Wall Ave., Ogden, UT 84405.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 9, 2010 at 1:00 pm at the Valley View Baptist Church, 2712 North 400 East, North Ogden. The family will meet friends at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd, on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Thursday at the church from 12:00 to 12:45 pm prior to the services.
