Zack Lee Phillips Jr., 70, passed away at his home in Pleasant View, Utah, with his wife by his side on October 14, 2026.
Zack was born on February 28, 1956, in Macon, Georgia, to Zack Lee Phillips Sr. and Teddy Velousis. His family traveled all over the world with the military before eventually settling in Utah. Zack graduated from Roy High School and attended Weber State College.
Zack married his sweetheart, Catana Maria Sacco, on January 23, 1990, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He loved taking Catana on trips, always choosing the best hotels and enjoying the opportunity to see new places. They also loved taking spontaneous trips to Yellowstone and going on long drives up the canyon to enjoy the changing seasons or stop for a sweet treat.
Zack was a natural salesman and spent 30 years with Morgan Jewelers. Over the years, he worked at several locations and built relationships with hundreds of loyal customers who loved stopping by just to visit him. He took great pride in his work, especially in helping his staff reach their goals, and he truly enjoyed the people he met along the way.
Zack loved fishing at Pineview Reservoir and always looked forward to his trips down the Green River. He was an avid sports enthusiast, and you could almost always find him watching whatever game was on, cheering, clapping, and hoping his bet would pay off. Zack also loved golf, so it was fitting that he and Catana lived on a golf course, allowing him to take his golf cart right out the door and onto the greens to play with friends.
Zack took great pride in his beautiful yard and loved showing off his trees and birdhouses. You could often find him relaxing on the back patio with a cigar, always happy to welcome visitors to sit awhile and share stories.
Zack embraced Catana’s three children as his own and was their biggest supporter throughout their lives. He loved hearing all the details about everything they were doing and telling everyone how proud he was of each of them.
Zack and Catana had five grandchildren, whom he loved to spoil. When they were little and spent the night, the kids would stay up waiting for Grandpa Zack to get home from work because he always brought them a special toy. At Christmas, he was the best gift-giver. Everyone looked forward to seeing the beautiful wrapping on his presents, and if you were lucky, you might even be the “chosen one.”
We will miss you immensely, Zack. As we continue to explore new places, experience new things, and share our stories, we’ll think of you and smile, knowing exactly what you would say: “Only in America!”
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Marcie and Michelle from Symbii Hospice. Your kindness and care over these last few months were deeply appreciated. Thank you also to Zack’s wonderful friends, family, and neighbors for all the love and support you have shown.
Zack was preceded in death by his father, Zack Sr., and his mother, Teddy Phillips.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Catana; their three children, Bron (Denise) McCall, Patrick McCall, and Becca (Troy) Callantine; five grandchildren, Bron, Chantelle, Marshall, McCall, and Miles; and his 2 brothers, Roy Phillips and Michael (Cindy) Phillips.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date, with details to be announced soon.
Are you ready? Lets go……………………….
