Zelma Marriott Bouwhuis Obituary (1918 - 2011)

Zelma Marriott Bouwhuis ROY / SOUTH JORDAN - Zelma Marriott Bouwhuis, while surrounded by family, returned to the arms of her loving husband Ernest, Thursday, August 18, 2011, at the age of 93. She was born July 20, 1918, in Plain City, a daughter of George Parley and Sarah Charlton Marriott. Zelma attended Weber County Schools, graduating with honors from Weber High School. On November 8, 1939, she married Ernest John Bouwhuis. They spent 68 happy years together, until his passing on October 23, 2007. After working tirelessly as a farmer in Deweyville, her and her husband moved to Roy city in 1960 where she worked at the IRS and the Defense Depot as a payroll clerk for which she received numerous recognitions and awards for her service. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, candy making, visiting with family and friends and most of all gardening and working in the yard. The family would like to thank all the staff and caregivers at Alta Ridge Memory Care (South Jordan), as well as Haven and Millcreek Hospice Organizations. Zelma is survived by her daughter Connie B. Haymes, two grandchildren; Jason (Vivi) Haymes, and Sherie (James) Johnson, five great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, two sisters Ella Barrett, Della East and brother Harold Marriott. She was preceded in death by her parents , husband and brother LeRoy Marriott. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at 1:00 p.m., at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy, Utah. A viewing will be held Wednesday, from 11:45 - 12:45 p.m., prior to services. Interment in the Roy City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.myers-mortuary.com.
